Isle of Wight Pride

July 15, 2017

Isle of Wight Pride 2017

We are proud to introduce the very first Isle of Wight Pride event ‘IW Pride’ to be held in Ryde on Saturday, 15th July 2017.

We are excited to have the opportunity to help facilitate what we are sure will be a very special event!

This will be the first ever UK Pride event to take place on a beach and there will be headline acts including Freemasons, Horse McDonald and La Voix.

Other acts include Reigns, Nicki French, Allan Jay, Miss Jason, The Bunker Girls, Alfie Ordinary, Jacqui Swallows, Saski Singer, the Medina Community Chorus and the Southampton Gay Men’s Chorus.
The Pride Village offers more

Away from the beach arena and main stage, the Pride Village will have food stalls, a small acoustic stage, family fun area, retail stalls and information stands.
The event organisers are making sure there will be something for everyone.

Pride events are a strong reminder to those who identify as LGBTQ who have lived through countless historical struggles including criminalisation of homosexuality, the AIDS epidemic, Section 28, and the prejudice and abuse felt by so many as they struggle to take pride in who they were born to be. There is still a lot of work to do internationally as well as making equality in law a reality in this country.

It may be said that the Isle of Wight lags behind the mainland in support and visibility for the LGBTQ community and this is often the perception from visitors and tourists alike.

Our vision for Isle of Wight Pride is for this to be an opportunity to celebrate and for us to take pride in how far we have come, how proud we are of our beautiful Island but also, just as importantly we need to highlight the work that still needs to be done. We really hope that we will also show that the Isle of Wight is a great place to live and a welcoming place to visit gaining us a reputation as a friendly destination for everyone.

The After Party – at The Balcony in Ryde

Isle of Wight Prides official After Party.
This is an Over 18 event, guests will be invited to join us in a club night led by the amazing Freemasons with a new Club House set.
We will be joined by the brilliant Gaydio DJ Alex Baker playing your favourite tunes to dance the night away to.
Tony Walton will be hitting the decks and will play some club classics from the 90s!
We will have comedy from the hilarious Nick Pillow, and you will also be entertained by Alfie Ordinary and Jacqui Swallows.
It will be an after party to remember, so get your glow sticks ready and dancing shoes on!
