The hotel has a rich history and offers its guest an old world charm, with ensuite comfortable rooms many of which have balconies and a restaurant with breathtaking views over the bay it is no wonder so many people come back to the Albion hotel year after year.
With breathtaking views across Freshwater Bay, the Albion Hotel enjoys a unique position that is genuinely within a stone’s throw of the sea, at the heart of the Isle of Wight’s southern Heritage Coast and in an official Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
With the glorious rolling Tennyson Down extending from the hotel grounds to the famous Needles, The West Wight, the quieter less populated area of the Island, is ideal for those looking for a truly relaxing and scenic holiday whilst having, amongst other things, a beach on their doorstep that is unbeatable for families.
The Albion is steeped in four centuries of history. In the 1600s ‘The Cabin’ – one of the earliest parts of the building – was the smuggler’s local ale house. While in the late 1800s, during the reign of Queen Victoria, ‘The Royal Albion’ proudly displayed the ‘By Appointment’ Crest.
The spectacular location of the Albion allows visits to the many secluded bays and rugged coastline of West Wight. Colwell Bay with safe sandy beaches and bathing, Compton Bay for the best surfing or perhaps Totland with its uncrowded beach and pier are fine examples. From the Needles and Alum Bay, with its coloured sands and chairlift, past Brook and Brighstone Bay through to Blackgang Chine the views are outstanding
The hotel has 40 spacious and comfortable bedrooms, all en-suite and all with tea/coffee facilities, colour television, direct dial telephones and full central heating for year round comfort. The vast majority of hotel rooms have their own balcony or terrace facing the sea, affording spectacular and panoramic sea views.
All year round swimming
While you may wish to swim in the sea during the Summer, our large indoor heated pool is available for your all year round enjoyment during Autumn, Spring and Winter too! The jacuzzi is superb after a day’s activity and sightseeing – relax in the warmth of invigorating whirlpool bubbles
