East Dene is in Bonchurch, Ventnor. With sea views and woodlands, it is one of the Islands premier outdoor education centres. The site is the former home of the Victorian Poet Algernon Swinburne. The Island is famous for fossil hunting, great for excursions, with wildlife sanctuaries and theme parks close by. We can suggest attractions to visit. East Dene is close to Ventnor, and the seaside town of Shanklin. The beach is just a short walk away too. Perfect for Rockpooling!
East Dene can accommodate up to 180, sleeping in bunk bedded dormitory rooms from 4 to 12 beds, with a mix of single and twin rooms. Group bookings are for a minimum of 10 people. Children, less than 18 years must be accompanied by an adult. Cots and highchairs are available, please ask at the time of booking. As a rule, we are pet-friendly but may want to check how many dogs how big etc.

Available on an exclusive use basis for families and groups of friends exploring the island. A perfect setting for big celebrations and special occasions, we are a great venue for a party or three generations family get-togethers. We can host yoga groups, Faith groups, walking groups and Rock ‘n’ Roll weekends – from small groups of 10 or up to 60. Groups can take as much or as little of the accommodation as is required – come and make yourself at home at our home, East Dene.
Some things that will help make it work for you
We have parking for 20 plus cars and a lower lawn that has vehicular access for larger groups. The Coach House has more limited parking but space is often available adjacent to the building. We have plenty of space to store bikes and facilities are available to wash kit, clean off muddy boots and dry your wetsuits. On-site there’s an outdoor heated pool (available May to November) and a hot tub which is available all year round. There is an all-weather outdoor play area with outside table tennis tables, plenty of picnic tables, a clambering wall and a children’s aerial slide to add to the fun!
We can organise activities on site, including archery, tree climbing and bushcraft skills. The Isle of Wight has a range of outdoor ADVENTURE ACTIVITIES to try, so why not try your hand at sailing, fishing trips, zorbing or sea kayaking to name a few.
Not self-catering DON’T WORRY – We have a rolling menu that we can tailor to each group. We serve pub favourites like lasagne and stews in Winter and provide BBQ’s and Salads in Summer. We make sure you have plenty of provisions for breakfast with all the usual suspects. We serve three tasty meals per day, with lots of choices and seasonal variations when you book a group accommodation package.

The site consists of the main building and a separate Coach House that houses accommodation, classroom facilities plus a covered central courtyard
There is dormitory-style accommodation, with separate bathroom and shower facilities close by. Sheets, duvets and pillows are provided for all guests.
There is an all-weather outdoor play area and also an indoor lounge with TV available.
There is WiFi available throughout the buildings with ‘parental control’ in place.
