Opened in 2013 at the Dinosaur Farm on the Isle of Wight the Dinosaur Expedition centre is the UK’s first Palaeoart museum and houses a growing collection of scientifically important fossils including non-dinosaurs.
Palaeoart helps visitors to understand and interpret the fossils and the palaeo-environment, the expedition centre hosts exhibits of paintings and sculptures by a number of renowned and up-and-coming palaeoartists.
Amoung the exhibition are Sauropods (Long-necked plant-eating dinosaurs), Theropods (Meat-eating dinosaurs) and part of a rare Polacanthus (plant-eating armoured dinosaur) skeleton. There is also a selection of international fossils from the Palaeozoic to the Pleistocene which help to tell the story of the evolution of life.
There is a great range of children’s activities available on site which are suitable for all ages. Learn how to excavate and identify real fossils, handle replicas of the biggest dinosaur claws and create their own Palaeoart to go on public display or take home as a souvenir.
