The village of Bonchurch lies just to the east of Ventnor and is renowned for its literary connections. Writers and poets such as Dickens, Stackpole and Swinburn all resided here for a time. Dickens remarked the village was ’the prettiest place I ever saw in my life, at home or abroad.’

The Victorian seaside town of Ventnor is situated on the southern side of the Isle of Wight, right in the heart of the famed Undercliff, much of which is designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Visitors will find a great variety of established local shops, restaurants and public houses serving locally caught fresh fish and locally brewed ales. Sheltered from the north by the National Trust owned St Boniface Downs, the area benefits from its own micro-climate, which provides an ideal haven for a variety of flora and fauna.

Explore the rock pools, great local walks and easy access to the many attractions the Isle of Wight has to offer. Outdoor pursuits on the island are well catered for and include horse riding, fishing, cycling, paragliding, water sports and golf. There are numerous attractions across the island to discover for all ages, including The Needles, with its chairlift, amusement park, boat rides, lighthouse and coloured sands of Alum Bay.
