Keats Kitchen, Shanklin, Isle of Wight
Keats Kitchen which is inspired by the poet John Keats is a unique place offering not only lovely homemade food but also a place to come and relax over coffee, read literature or just enjoy a glass of local wine with friends. As Keats was a keen traveller, we have decided to take on board our knowledge of Polish and Swiss cuisines, in addition to more traditional fayre in our menus.
David and Ewa believe in the little things which make people happy. Having worked for quality restauranteurs such as Sir Terrence Conran and Paul Heathcote and have broadened their horizons by working in Switzerland, the emphasis is on exceptional food and service in a home from home experience. We use the beautiful produce that is to be found on the Island and make a number of cakes, chutneys, pies and rolls which can be taken away.
It is for this reason that we have devised a menu with homemade ingredients, local produce and comfort style cooking in mind. We can offer a hearty breakfast or leisurely lunch or a decadent afternoon tea. For those wanting to try something different, we also intend to offer Swiss style rosti and Polish ravioli (pierogi) to name just a few options. The restaurant will also feature themed evenings and events and we will be welcoming some well-known chefs and other guests (please click NEWS for more details). Among the other attractions, we will have selected days for “Kids at Keats” as well as welcoming cyclists, artists, walkers and other groups as we hope to create an informal environment for everyone.
Our restaurant is open for dinner on Thursday, Friday & Saturday evenings, so why not book yourselves in for a delicious ‘date night’ or get together with friends or family NOW Tel. 01983 639661

SHANKLIN, Isle of Wight
Shanklin is where thatched cottages meet golden sand and are one of the most popular destinations on the Isle of Wight for traditional seaside holidays.
The golden sandy beaches have safe bathing water and currently holds a seaside award, the beach stretches for miles and visitors can walk from Shanklin to Sandown via the beach. Away from the beach is the main town which hosts a multitude of shops, cafes, bars and restaurants to enjoy, further up the cliff is the Old Village a must-see spot to visit with it’s pretty thatched cottages, cosy tearooms and craft shops to explore. Here you will find the entrance to the Shanklin Chine a deep gorge carved out by a stream, which is a restful and picturesque place to spend the morning or afternoon. In the evening the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere, at the bottom of the chine you will find the Pluto pipeline used during the Normandy invasion in 1944, to carry petrol under the Channel to Cherbourg.
