Lake Beach, Sandown, Isle of Wight

Lake Beach is located between the popular resort beaches of Sandown and Shanklin and shares the same gently sloping golden sands and clear swimming waters. To the rear of Lake Beach (also known as Dunroamin Beach), the cliff rises steeply creating a dramatic looking natural screen and shelter for the beach, at the foot of which runs the sea wall and path/cycleway. Lake cliffs are home to kestrels, swifts and cormorants can sometimes be seen.

Lake beach is safe and sandy, and a peaceful respite from the hustle and bustle of the larger resorts. It is reached from the Cliff Path by a sloping footpath, or, also on foot, along the revetment, from Sandown or Shanklin. As the waters are quieter this is a great beach for surfing and watersports, and there is an instructional school close by that offers a whole range of activities for all ages and abilities you will also find a cafe here.

There are beach huts at the back of Lake Beach and a number of benches to sit on along the seawall path and enjoy the views.. The Cliff Path affords an easy stroll between Sandown and Shanklin, and for the more enthusiastic walker forms part of the Island’s Coastal Path.
