The Beach Hut, Bembridge, Isle of Wight
Welcome to The Beach Hut Café at Bembridge
A bit of a hidden gem, tucked away down a few stairs to the beach you’ll find The Beach Hut kiosk overlooking a stunning Forelands beach, the famous Bembridge Ledge and Culver Downs.
The Beach Hut is a little seasonal seafood cafe and kiosk right on the beach with outside seating and a few tables inside on chilly days. We offer fabulous food and fabulous views. Our food is Mediterranean in influence with lots of seafood and local produce when in season. Our speciality is IW crab and seafood specials but we also have some rather lovely vegi dishes and a rather stonking afternoon tea. We also cater for Gluten Free customers. We are a dog-friendly cafe based on a dog friendly beach.
Started in March 2012 by Emma and Jon Guy, The Beach Hut has built a bit of a reputation as a fab foodie spot. (Emma won the 2011 Isle of Wight Masterchef competition cooking Mottistone Manor fillet steak in her secret recipe mushroom sauce… IW steaks will be on this year’s BBQ menu) and over the past couple of years, The Beach Hut has generated a lovely loyal following of Beach Hut friends, reviews and write-ups in National and local press including The Girls Guide to the Isle of Wight. Emma has recently been awarded the title of Food Hero by Taste of The Wight.
All our food is designed for sharing and enjoying whilst overlooking the sea. We try to make our customers welcome and get to know them and their tastes. You are our guests and we welcome you and your families.
Come for lunch. Come for afternoon tea. Come for a birthday. Come for the views. Sit and enjoy a sharing platter over a glass of wine. Come for supper, whatever the occasion we look forward to seeing you.
About The Beach Hut Café at Bembridge
Fabulous Mediterranean food, Fabulous sea views!
Down some steps, through an unmade free car parking area you’ll find our little kiosk with the most breathtaking sea views. We’re not posh. We’re a bit quirky. We’re not even a restaurant. But we are passionate about our food. We love to cook and to make our customers happy. Seafood is our thing.
But don’t worry if it’s not yours, we have sharing platters and fab food with Mediterranean influences, vegi specials and lots of gluten-free options.
We offer a frequently changing menu and specials board.
We believe in the little touches such as complimentary bread and water.
We offer salads with our homemade dressing, Spanish influences and love to play with marinades and herbs.
As the seasons roll on we use as much Isle of Wight produce as we can.
We cook to order. Lunchtimes in the summer are busy days so we do recommend booking. We don’t do a quick cheese sandwich and we don’t fry so you won’t get a burger and chips with us. But we do have a great setting, lovely staff and a smashing light and fresh menu. Our food is designed for lunch and for sharing with friends.
The Beach Hut is the perfect place to sit listening to the waves and watching the tide come and go. Our food is for sharing and enjoying.
We are not licensed so bring your own wine and sit and enjoy the view whilst we cook you up a treat. We have a mix of plastic tables and chairs and benches, a few sunshades and blankets…so we are ready for anything! If it’s a bit chilly grab a fleece and come on down if it’s sunny then grab the sunscreen and beach towel! If it’s pouring with rain, the tide high and the wind unforgiving we do sometimes close as it can be too wet even for us. So give us a call if you are not sure.
We are a cash only cafe, we don’t take credit or debit cards or cheques. There are a number of cash points available nearby in Bembridge Village (both Co-ops have one).
And we don’t charge corkage, so feel free to bring your own wine or fizz!
We offer free parking. To find us follow the signs in the village to The Crab and Lobster pub and Forelands and you’ll come across our car park by Sally’s riding school.
If getting a taxi from Bembridge Airport, say ‘the old Longledge cafe, Forelands Beach’, and fare wise it should be about £5.
