Looking out across the Solent towards Lymington, The George Hotel is a stunning 17th Century property enjoying a wonderful location nestling on the water’s edge between the castle and pier in the bustling harbour town of Yarmouth.  This magnificent building is steeped in history and was once home to the most noteworthy of the Island’s Governors, Sir Robert Holmes who often entertained King Charles II.

The original features of the property have been tastefully integrated with contemporary design, making The George something rather special.

Today, the property is arguably one of the Isle of Wight’s most favored hotels, offering 17 luxury bedrooms, many of which enjoy the spectacular views of the the Solent.  We offer three styles of bedrooms, Classic, Deluxe and Prestigue and our rooms are both stylish and relaxing – they are supremely comfortable, with large fabulous beds, crisp white linen, plump pillows, well equipped bathrooms and a generous supply of tea, coffee and biscuits.

At The George, we offer you three styles of dining to suite your requirements and mood.

Here on the island, we enjoy an abundance and wide variety of fresh local produce – fish, seafood, vegetables and wonderful cheeses to name but a few. In fact, everything we need to create imaginative and seasonal menus. Our focus is very much on using island produce whenever we can. So, whichever of our two restaurants you dine in, you can be assured of the freshest and finest ingredients. Simply sit back and enjoy!
