Our hotel restaurant, with its AA-rosette status and elegance, offers a superb dining experience. The menus are seasonal and our chefs make the very best use of local produce to provide you with a real taste of Isle of Wight.

The restaurant is open for dinner 6.45 pm – 8.45pm. Table d’hote Menu and Taster menu samples are available.

Dressing for dinner is all part of the The Royal experience, but we don’t expect you to go to extremes. From 6.00pm smart dress is required for dinner.

In order to enjoy your dining experience, we recommend you to reserve your table early for the day and time you would like to attend. Please contact the reception to make your reservation.

Greeting From Head Chef

We’re proud to source the finest produce from the best local producers wherever possible for our menu. We’ve a wonderful natural larder in the Isle of Wight and an abundance of passionate local suppliers who ensure we get the most from each season. Many of them have now become friends as well as suppliers, and they understand our perspective when it comes to sourcing the finest artisan produce from this fantastic region. We’re also greatly aware of the need to source sustainable local produce in order to reduce environmental impact and food miles.

Choosing seasonal produce wherever possible ensures that our menu always reflects what is ripe and ready to eat. It also stimulates the creativity of our talented chefs to work within the confines of what is freshly available. Current culinary creations include venison, duck and salt-baked carrot terrine with beer-pickled onions, Gallybagger cheese (an award-winning locally made unpasteurised cheddar) soufflé with caramelised cauliflower purée, and Smoked haddock scotch egg, parsley purée, curried onion, puffed rice.  In the kitchen the talented team strives to create beautiful dishes with a balance of flavours and textures which are also visually stunning.

Should you have any dietary requirements or food allergies that we are not already aware of, please do mention it when ordering and we’ll gladly guide you to the most appropriate dishes on the menu.
