Most notably, the Grade II listed building has six B&B rooms which have been beautifully renovated, and resulted in unique, charming accommodation. One Holyrood is licensed, visitors can relax and enjoy a selection of wines, spirits and beers, including the local Mermaid Gin and Goddard’s Ale of Wight beers. One Holyrood welcomes small, well behaved pets, however there is an additional charge of £10 per night. Furthermore, visitors looking for self catering accommodation  can stay at the 4 person apartment on Quay Street. The guest accommodation is located centrally and near the Quay, hence, it is perfect for business and holiday visitors alike staying on the IOW.


One Holyrood is situated in the historic centre of Newport and are statutory Grade II listed. The buildings date from at least the 17th century (there are two date marks visible), and had many uses over the years – a Bakery and in the 1940’s a Gentleman’s Outfitters – most recently a Picture Gallery.

Building Award

Newport Parish Council awarded One Holyrood the Building Design Award in 2012 for “External and Internal Refurbishment”. Prior to its renovation the buildings the buildings were neglected and in a poor structural condition.  Having undergone a total renovation & conversion under the architect Richard Holden of the London practice Holden Harper with decorative finishes by David Genty it is now guest accommodation.

Guest Rooms

The guest rooms at One Holyrood B&B have been individually designed with quality, character and comfort as a priority.   Accommodation is spread out over three floors of this Grade II listed building and though having undergone total restoration the building has maintained its charm and architectural integrity. Complying with Conservation issues demanded by a Grade II listed building results in limited access for people with mobility issues.  Wheelchair access is from the street to the ground floor, but no toilet facilities are available on this level. The team at One Holyrood are happy to assist guests with visual impairments while they are staying at One Holyrood B&B.  There are no specific aids for the visually impaired.

The Garden

One Holyrood’s garden prior to its renovation was literally a wilderness. It was completely cleared out, re-leveled and then paved with the stone slabs found in the undergrowth. The beds & boarders have been stocked with scented plants to give a simulating aromatic experience. The Garden is a peaceful sunny place to lounge or eat in throughout the day.
