In 2009, Lonely Planet voted the Island as having some of the World’s best cycling routes. The spring & autumn Walking Festivals are two of the largest events in Britain. The Island is blessed with having the most sunshine hours anywhere in the UK (source: Met Office).
The cottage is self-contained and provides a large private patio for our guest’s use. Ample private parking.

What we offer
We cater for 2 adults with additional accommodation for 1 more adult if required. Sorry, no pets or children. The facilities include a double bedroom, lounge/diner with large sofa-bed, well-provided kitchenette & a shower room with Electric Shower.
The accommodation provides a large patio area (for the sole private use of guests) with patio furniture for sitting out / eating alfresco on those pleasant warm evenings. The patio is just a few metres from the boundary of the Afton Nature Reserve and many less common birds & other wildlife often pay a visit including the Island’s native red squirrels … such a joy to see!.
Although the accommodation is self-catering, bedding and/or towels can be provided for your convenience for a minimal fee and this will then include the bed and/or sofa bed made for you prior to your arrival … one less thing to do!

We are ideally positioned between Freshwater Village & Freshwater Bay …. ‘At the Gateway to Freshwater Bay’. Approximately 150 metres away is a Co-op store open from 7.30am to 10 pm Monday – Saturday & 10 am to 4 pm on Sundays. A Post Office is located within the store and is open from 9 am to 5.30pm Monday – Friday & 9 am to 12.30pm on Saturday. There is also an ATM outside. A garage and petrol station is located just a few metres from the Co-op store. Freshwater Village has two Chemists, Newsagent, Chinese & Indian Restaurants / Takeaways, Fish & Chip Shop, Ironmongers, Sainsburys Express, Hairdressers & various small independent shops. The West Wight Sports Centre & swimming pool is centrally located in the village at Moa Place & is adjacent to the Brookside Health Centre. A Garden Centre / ‘End of the Line Cafe’ is located adjacent to the River Yar Causeway within a brief 4 to 5-minute stroll from Little Sedge.
There are several local Pubs. The nearest ones (within reasonable walking distance) are the Red Lion Inn at Church Place (near The Causeway) and The Vine Inn located in the centre of the village on Avenue Road. The High Down Inn located on the old road to Alum Bay is particularly good for food as is the aforementioned Red Lion Inn. Further afield are The Bugle, The Kings Head and The Wheatsheaf all in Yarmouth. The Sun Inn at Hulverstone is also recommended and, like Yarmouth, is a 10-minute drive away. The Bugle has a very good menu and has regular live music.
