Nunwell House and Gardens, Brading, Isle of Wight A family home since 1522 Nunwell house is surrounded by 5 acres of tranquil gardens including a walled garden, this grade 11 listed building  is of great historical and architectural interest Nunwell House is situated to the northwest of Brading. The house is a walk through history itself with parts of it built in the fifteenth century and additions add right through to the music room added in 1906. Famous for being where King Charles I’s after escaping from London had his last night of freedom before he was held prisoner in Carisbrooke castle awaiting his execution in Whithall. You can walk in the footsteps of the King during one of the guided tours given at the house from May to September and explore the rich history that has followed, once you have toured the house it is time to take in the beautiful gardens and Lilly pond.
