Well, the new isleofwight.com website has now gone live. The changeover took place in the early hours of Sunday morning and the move from one server to the the other went seamlessly.
The new website works on a different technology and has been designed to be especially interactive with mobile phones and tablet devices. Whilst the old isleofwight.com was “mobile friendly” which is what the search engines such as Google look for, the new site works on GPS and Near Field Location, so that if you were perhaps in Freshwater and you wanted to find a hidden beach, cafe or restaurant, then you can find them easily with the search menu at the top of the site.
Once you have selected what you are looking for, the results are displayed on a map and you can look at what is available. Once you have made your choice, the website will direct you to the point via “turn by turn” satellite navigation.
The site also has a fresher look and we have spent ages ensuring that the site is clean and especially easy to use for site visitors.
Thank you to everybody involved.
