Shanklin is the Sister resort to Sandown and the two sit beside each other on the south east coast of the Island in Sandown Bay. The town has a lovely esplanade with lots to see and do and you can either drive to the shore, walk down to it ior take the cliff top lift to avoid the hill.
Shanklin’s beach is very sandy and is a great attraction for families and all age groups. There is a crazy golf courser, children’s play attractions and of course, an amusement arcade. To the south of Shanklin is Shanklin Old Village, famed for its’ thatched cottages World Wide. From here you can walk down to the seafront via a beautiful natural chine, which is where The Pluto pipeline left UK shores to pump much needed fuel to the Allied Forces in France. It was also a training area for Commandos.
