The Isle of Wight is also a World renowned area for dinosaurs and people come from all around the World to go fossil hunting and to study the geology of the Island. Whilst these were perhaps our first tourists to the Isle of Wight, Queen Victoria, and her family were perhaps the most famous, creating a holiday home at Osborne House, which she later made her permanent home after the death of Prince Albert.
The best part though is that we are an Island, protected from the busy mainland and offering a more relaxed and peaceful environment. The countryside is said to take a piece of all the counties along the south coast and roll it into one. Perhaps that is why the Isle of Wight is known as the “Garden Isle”.
