Sandown Beach, Sandown, Isle of Wight
Sandown is known for its long golden sandy beach and that traditional ‘bucket and spade’ feel you can only get from an English family beach.
One of the Island most popular beaches during the summer months. Sandown beach offers everything you could want from a day by the sea, traditional seaside cafes, souvenir and beach shops galore along with deckchairs, sun loungers and windbreaks for hire means you can set up camp for the day without worrying about lugging everything with you.
The pier at Sandown beach offers amusements, bowling and crazy golf to keep all ages of the family amused when not taking a dip in the Blue flag waters.
The main seafront area begins slightly west of the pier where the majority of parking can be found and from here the road runs along the Esplanade down to where the sand narrows. At this point there are trampolines and a beach shop and shoreside cafe and the road turns inland. All along this esplanade are traditional hotels some with decked areas with wonderful views of the beach and many with café, restaurants and bars open to the public.
Enjoy an ice cream on the seafront try Sandown Strawberry Cheesecake made locally from the Isle of Wight produce.
Parking: There are a few car park spaces available along the seafront but you may have to park in one of the town car parks. Facilities such as public toilets are available.
There are restrictions in place on the Isle of Wight’s main resort beaches between 1st May and 30th September which prevents dogs being allowed to use them. However, outside of this season dogs are welcomed
