Shanklin Chine Beach Webcam

This camera is owned and operated by isleofwight.com.

The Shanklin Beach camera is located at Shanklin Chine, overlooking the popular pub on the beach, The Fishermans Cottage.

Shanklin Chine, the Isle of Wight’s oldest visitor attraction, has captivated visitors for over 200 years with its breathtaking natural beauty, initially explored by intrepid travellers in the 18th century.

Jane Austen praised it in 1813, and significant development occurred in 1817 when William Colenutt carved out a path for public access.

The Chine drew many literary and artistic figures, including Keats and Dickens, who celebrated its grandeur, while Victorian royalty contributed to its popularity as a fashionable destination.

Smuggling activity also marked its historical background, with a noted tunnel connecting the Chine Inn to the Old Village, reflecting its multifaceted significance over the centuries.
